Dear students!
I hope you have had (and of course still have) great Easter holidays and that you look forward reading our novel "Looking for Alaska" (LfA) by John Green in class soon.
Apart from correcting your class tests last week and after my short trip to Trier and to the "Nürburgring" in the "Eifel", I had time to read the novel again and I have to say that I really like this book! It offers quite a lot of interesting topics to talk about and I hope you will enjoy reading and talking about it as well! :)
To those of you who know the book: Please be fair and don't tell the story - especially not the very end - to the others. And for all of you: Please don't read any summaries taken from the internet in advance, otherwise the lessons might be boring for you then. And please don't read any further than you are asked to read. Failing this, we can't do any anticipating :(
Today I had a nice guest. Mrs Gracka (my teacher in training-colleague at the MWG) visited me and together we planned the lessons for our sequence about the novel since her course is going to read the book as well.
Due to the fact that we are going to have an oral exam at the end of the term, you will first of all practise speaking as much as possible. There is a variety of speaking tasks, e.g. role plays and dialogues. So don't be afraid of the oral exam, you will be fine, I'm sure!
You will get all relevant information about the design of this exam on Tuesday and there is enough time to answer all your questions.
Some information for you in advance:
You are going to choose a partner - a so called "Lernpartner" - for the whole sequence about LfA and you will prepare all the tasks together with him or her and you will be tested together in these pairs in the exam. So there is no one who needs to be afraid, you aren't alone. :)

One interesting fact for you:
Can you imagine why I am writing this blog (actually quite difficult for me because I'm not used to writing blogs...)? We thought that it is a good idea to work with the so called "new media" and to create blogs of our own. So all of you - in pairs - will create one blog like this one where we can share our reading experiences, work on tasks you will get in class and for your homework and just to have something different apart from our regulars folders or exercise books.
By the way: If you don't have an internet access at home, you can use the computers in the library of our school. So no excuses, Ladies and Gentlemen!
One further note: Please feel free to bring your ideas into our lessons. If there is anything you would like to talk about, don't hesitate to ask me to include it into our sequence plan.
I will put the sequence plan (and later on all your homework tasks) in this blog as well, so keep on reading and feel free to comment on my entries!
Enjoy the last days of our Easter holidays!
